as I recall, the drug is taken up through the skin.  Since amphibians are so
sensitive to many different chemical agents, it might not take much to reach
lethal levels.  Over-the-counter tooth-ache medicines can also kill
amphibians if a drop is placed on their heads (of course... who's gonna
catch a frog... put a drop on its head... then let it go and call it a
control system?).  Point is, they are sensitive to things in small doses.

On a side note, somebody asked recently about cigarette smoke and geckos.  I
don't know if it was mentioned or not, but nicotine is an insecticide.  So
the feeder animals at least would be damaged by the smoke... even if the
effects on the gecko are more long-term.
