Why do you people keep on writing things that I want to respond to so I have
to log onto Hotmail on-line to reply because their server is still "being
upgraded" and I can't reply from Outlook Express?????

Laura:

What you're relating has merit. My "angel's advocate" position is that
something as serious as burning is worth avoiding. I wonder how it happens,
but I suppose a basking lizard could fall asleep and not notice until the
damage is done.

In electrical terms, were basically talking about a big resistor or coil of
some sort buried in the "rock". It's certainly conceivable that over time,
with high heat, the component could degrade beyond its specifications.

Thanks for the information, though, Laura.

Steve
