Minus the Helix (BTW I have one and love it), even this stuff does not
have to cost that much. You can make some stuff, or you might just have to
know where to look for other stuff. My Hovabators are fairly cheap
incubators that have served me well (one is over 10yrs old with one
replaced part). I got both of mine from poultry supply catalogs. These
catalogs still have the best prices on them.
My hand mister is a hand pump plant mister from Home Depot. My humidifier
was purchased from a drug store and was easily modified and converted to
fit my cage. My drip systems are recycled IV bags with Venosets. I
occasionally get used cages from the clinic I work at. I can often modify
these for reptiles. My chameleon is in a modified ferret cage. My hospital
cages or small animal containers are Rubber made boxes that are easy and
cheap. Since we vet techs do not get paid well for what we do, we learn to
become very thrifty and use what is accessible to us. ;>
