[Gecko] Spider gecko feeding

I am having a lot of trouble getting my spider gecko to eat. He has a bacterial infection that affected his eye and he is still on the medication (1 more week). I have to force feed him crickets and mealworms. He will not, however, eat on his own. I would really appreciate it if someone with spider gecko experience could give me some help. Maybe I could speak with them off-list regularly until I get him eating again. What causes these things to cease eating?   Thanks to everyone who helps.
