Hey Julie!

I always check the available flights for my desired destination ahead of
time, but I have never had to give 24 hour notice for either Continental or
SW. Continental has worked out the best for me as there is a hub in
Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and, therefore, has many available
direct flights. Their Animal Desk phone # is: 1-800-575-3335. I usually
call there first and request the local phone number for Continental Cargo
Office at our airport to re-check the available flights and to verify the
drop off location. They will give you the schedule of flights (times and
flight numbers) that are able to carry animals.....smaller aircrafts are not
always suited for animals. I always suggest that the recipient of the
package calls his/her local office ahead of time to establish the exact
location (and open hours) for pick up. Sometimes this is actually in the
airport and other times it is in a cargo office near the airport.

Twice when receiving a shipment on a Sunday and the cargo office was closed,
a SW employee has actually hand carried the package down to baggage claim for
me. In these cases, I made arrangements for pick up with them the day before.

BTW, US Air also ships reptiles, although, I have never had the opportunity
to use them.
