| A screen cage is a must. If you can, she might feel safer having a cage with
walls on 2-3 sides, but you'd see more natural behavior with an all screen cage. It's good to vary supplements from time to time to be sure they are getting everything they possibly can, and be sure the temp will not exceed 83 during the day. They can take it warm, but I keep mine indoors at 79. Keep her away from ants at all costs. As far as roaches go, easily something 2+", maybe 3". I've been feeding mine katydids lately, those are around 3+", but not nearly as heavy bodied as roaches. Mine go bonkers for roaches. I think these larger Uroplatus definately need bigger bugs to be kept naturally. I think Bill Love's site has all these Nosy Mangabe frimbriatus chowing down on huge katydids. The problem with your henk's eating delimma could be very simple. What time are you feeding/watching her. Only very hungry henkeli will hunt during the day, and even then under the cover of foliage. My lights turn off at 8:45, and I feed them around 10-11pm. This way, the're wide awake, and already on the hunt. |
