I would try for a 30 gallon at minimum for a pair.  I have my pair in a model 32 lizard lounge (reptile cage made by Oceanic Systems).  I personally feel it is small for such a magnificent lizard, they were my first gecko so I'm more partial to tokays than other species.  Anyhow, if you can try to, get a tank that is more tall than long.  My pair is constantly moving about, whether day or night, so more space the better.  As for eggs, I leave mine unprotected.  My male is usually the one found "guarding" them, with the female not too far away.  Tokays will guard/defend young supposedly until the black and white banding begins to disappear.  Mine, however, do not as they are accustom to my presence (I do get reminded that they are tokays once in a while hehehe).  To this date I have had between 50-60 eggs with about a 95-98% successful hatch rate.  I'd have to look up the numbers to be more accurate.  The number of eggs is from 1 female, with 2001 being her 3rd year laying.

If you have anymore questions, feel free to e-mail me directly or post to the listserv.  I'll try to reply ASAP.
Later,
Chris ....

I have a book on tokays and related species which i used for the general care of my white lined because they have a small portion for white-lineds

My Reptiles Annual 2001 article "Five Great Pet Shop Geckos" includes a section on Gekko vittatus, the White-lined gecko.

and i figured, Ya know i got a book on tokays so i wonder how many of them i could put in a 20L, 20H, or 29 galleon tank... any one like to help me??

You are asking how many Gekko vittatus? They are pretty aggressive and need lots of hiding places - the tallest/biggest you can afford. I'd say a pair would be a safe bet, trios maybe.

i would like to know if i couldp ut atleast 1 pair in and another thing. The book says to get the eggs out if possible and incubate them..

Gekko gekko (Tokay) eggs or G. vittatus? G. vittatus is a gluer so you don't have a choice about that.

well from what i have heard tokays are good parents

I have not bred them, there are some folks on here who have. I would not trust any gecko to be a good parent unless I definitely knew otherwise. Gekko vittatus are not good parents!

and im afraid if i do this i will get attacked..

LOL! You got the genus Gekko,  they tend to be that way. Unless you have one of Greg Christenson's "tame" CB G. gekko!

please help me on these qestions.

Thanks

Seeing as you are new, stick with pairs with these large genus types. Trios are more tricky.
