You are correct. Snails do carry large amounts of parasites but most are
endemic to snails and not to lizards etc. The water snails are the vectors of
most flukes that can be passed onto warm blooded animals including humans.
The USDA has studied snails extensively as a food item fpr humans. The
concensus is that the land snails are pretty innocuous if prepared well. Of
course cooking snails for your geckos is out of the question but truthfully I
have fed them for years and have never seen a parasite problem as a result.
