Personally I have never had a problem using pure(distilled) water. Once a teacher
told me that distilled water is very bad for human babies because they absorb it into
their systems very fast and it goes to their brain. He also told me that it is alright
for adults because we don't have the same problem.
If you are very worried about your gecko just put an ice cube on top of his cage
before misting. Using tap water in the ice cubes make sure to place it where the drops
will not hit the glass. If it is thirsty it will drink from the ice cube droplets and
get the minerals.
