Mike named our gecko "Matt". Matt's toes are green because the Calci-sand
substrate apparently contains green food coloring or something. He sometimes
does a lot of digging in that sand (likes to build tunnel entrances to
his shelters), and his toes eventually become green. They are restored
to brown when he sheds, which is quite regularly (about every 5 weeks).
The plant is a nice plastic one with bendable stems that we bought at
a herp convention last year. I just love how well the pictures come
out when taken at high resolution my new Olympus 2040Z digital camera,
and then re-sampled down to web-size and JPG-compressed. I'm happy with
that camera.

Thanks for your note Elizabeth. Do you have fat-tail geckos?

Kind regards from Dan in Palo Alto California
