Title: 2-liter bottles
I first saw somebody use those black bottoms of bottles back in the 80's. A guy in my home town would use aquarium sealer to stick them together into intricate arrangements of caves for his African cichlids. he loved it because, if need be, he could take the whole thing out and scrub it clean with boiling water... and it provided a good surface for some of his cichlids to use for egg-laying.
Of course, a huge pile of them in a 200 gallon tank is not all that attractive. but it was useful. I think he now uses PVC pipe cut into irregular sizes.
