Hi Brad-
I think the varied messages reflect the different breeders and their methods. 
But never hesitate to question an answer, we all get it wrong sometimes. So 
far the answers are right, but different.
I have kept and bred these also. You can cover the eggs or not. If they fall, 
they'll probably bounce. Compared to other geckos, vittatus hatchlings are 
GIANTS. Certainly hardy enough to withstand the drop.
They are very vocal and good eaters. The first time one throws open its mouth 
and shrieks, you're in for a start!
One thing for certain is you cannot move the eggs without breaking them.
