Hi-
I've spent a bit of time lately writing a report for the NAPIG- 
(NorthAmerican Phelsuma Interest Group) and I'd hate to re-write it here. But 
the basic differences are the upland type has a greenish underside, most 
visible under the chin and lip. Female uplands are extremely colorful, 
especially when compared to lowland females. The photos in the McKeown book 
show an upland male and a lowland female on page 65 and an upland female on 
page 66.
FWIW, all the animals I saw at Daytona last year were upland type.
