As Jon alluded to earlier, the status of many Lygodactylus species is based on minute color-pattern differences.  The people at thos pet stores are not knowledgable enough to even get the genus right have the time, yet alone the species.

I wonder if they have only locale protection or are listed on CITIES 1.  Anyone know?
