Title: Re: [Gecko] My geckos blockage
I know I'm not Elizabeth but I really wanted to reply.

Awww I know its too late but you could have had him put down peacefully, or I hope you at least suggested that the place put him down humanely/peacefully.
What substrate did you have him on? What blocked him? Are you sure it isnt crypto? The purple on the belly also is a sign of that. Did you get the gecko from PetCo by chance?

Hi Elizabeth,
I am sorry to say I actually took him to the vet and they tried to do an enema on him to break up the blockage, but the vet told me that the blockage was so bad that they really couldn't do much because the discoloring of the skin was purple and blue she was afraid to put something down it's mouth for fear that it might rupture his stomach. I took him back to the place I bought him and they gave me another one free of charge. By the way he was a leopard gecko. I mainly deal with leopard geckos, but am looking at branching out into other species also. If you have any other suggestions for me that could help I would appreciate it.

Hi Derek,

What type of gecko have you?  We need more info.  I hope that it's not too late, but if you have this gecko on sand, put him on a paper towel immediately instead.  The blockage could be a sand impaction from using a silica (jagged-edged) sand which accumulates in the intestine and could easily result in your pet's death.

I'd advise seeing a non-domestic vet ASAP!

I have juvenile gecko that has quite a large blockage in it's stomach. The blockage is so large and has grown so rapidly that it is making it's stomach discolored. I have tried putting him in some warm water to break things up , but is there anything else I can do. Please help. Thanks
