Paul,

How long did you have the geckos before they appeared ill? The appropriate thing to do is for both parties (breeder and customer) to do fecals when a parasite is discovered in a short time like you have had those geckos. It sounds like the breeder is claiming it did not come from their end when they should be acknowledging it is a possibility. "Herbal treatments" for parasites on their end is anything but reassuring. What vet told them to use that? What is the success rate for that kind of treatment? A good non-domestic vet is on top of all the current research on the meds for a particular parasite and structures a treatment program based on that.

The other factor in tracking down an origin for these buggies would be if these geckos were kept with geckos from another source. This is the reason for quarantine for future reference and for newbies getting started. Personally I have a health guarantee on the geckos I sell and that is voided if folks mix them up with other geckos right away. It is not fair to make one breeder responsible for other breeder's gecko health issues.

Hopefully someone will post some info about hookworms for you Paul!

I dout it was from something it ate from what I understand, They were
infested from the breeder, who claims he has no problems there, he's using
some kind of herbal dewormer. I know that canine hookworms can survivie out
side the host 4 or 5 years, any idea how long herp hookworms can survie out
side the host?

Sorry to chime in late.. any clue as to how your Gecko got the hookworms?
Besides in something it ate, of course.

Thanks in advance!
