Hi all -
Some more questions from a nervous new gecko owner:
I have a Giant Day gecko and a couple of juvenile crested geckos and periodically have to clean mold off the bamboo in their vivariums. I am wondering how harmful the mold is for them. Should I really be freaking out about this? Today we are putting a Hepa filter in the room, which will help the airflow in the room in general, but I'm wondering if I'm keeping their homes too humid. For the crested's home, I keep the humidity around 60% or more, and for the Giant Day I have been keeping it no less humid than 65% - I generally keep it above 70%. Eventually, we will get some tanks with air holes near the bottoms, but for now they are in all glass tanks. Any info or suggestions will be much appreciated.
By the way, thanks to those who answered my question about my young crested who won't eat baby food - you gave me good advice and alleviated my concern. He still prefers crickets to baby food, but I guess he'll grow into liking the baby food eventually and he is growing well anyway.
- thank you,
Dana
