Now, don't say that - I've heard they have pretty neat food over there
:):):)

But seriously, gang ... Obeligz has been active in the herp community for
many moons, and I have known him for a few years now. He and I communicate
often, and in our last correspondence, we were putting together a ball-park
list of what animals would be appropriate for captivity; a list which he was
to present to the Norwegian authorities in spring of 2005.

Today, I sent a note off to Allen Salzberg of Herp Digest; I am hoping he'll
be able to provide a link to the petition in an upcoming issue.

Obeligz wrote me early this morning; he has limited computer access because
he is locked out of his house (he was on his mom's computer). He is
*****devastated***** over this. The potential destruction of his collection
is breaking his heart. There is a remote possibility they will allow him to
send the collection to the original breeders in Germany, but they are still
negotiating that.

I can personally vouch for all the hard work he has put into the fight to
legalize herps in Norway. He has been painstakingly collecting data and
documentation to support the movement, and it really seemed like he was
making headway. For such a young guy, he has had tremendous success in
breeding some of the lesser know rhacs and leachies, and he is truly
dedicated to his animals and the issue of captive breeding.

Although he has limited access to a computer, if anyone has any personal
messages for him, I will *ensure* he gets them :) The guy could really use
some cheering up right now. Imagine if it were one of us ... :(:(:(:(

Thanks again for everyone's support!

Sincerely,
