i've seen leopards in the pet store with a bowl full of worms and
occasionally one of the geckos will actually eat out of the dish. but
typically, it seems that they prefer "the hunt"... "playing with their
food".

Lego, our latest leopard gecko, is the most adorable of all the gecko's i've
had with this behavior. the head weaving and bobbing and the pounce is just
so overdone by her that you can't help but watch her eat.

at any rate, i've found dishes that are like a rock or log with little
hollowed out spots at various pet stores and the i also have the old petco
standard reptile food dish that is crescent shaped and small.

they've also got cricket feeder "rocks" but i wouldn't use that with just "a
baby" or in a small terrerium. the idea is to fill it up with crickets and
quencher and then remove a plug and the crickets trickle out? go figure,
never used it and doesn't sound like it would enhance our setup.

anyhow, depending on the substrate you are using, it may be just fine
putting the powder covered worms in a food dish and let them crawl out until
your gecko gets to them. they have all day to sit around and do nothing. why
not let them have a little adventure in their lives. as long as you are
keeping the terrerium clean...

the only other thing is depending on the substrate, they can burry or hide
under the green carpet. so remember to check for that instead of overloading
with worms and then finding beetles which are awfully crunchy to a smaller
gecko.

a good friend of mine complains to me not to feed them worms daily and to
put the ones in front of her that are "white" and not dark in color... as in
they just shed their exoskeleton so its not hard and much easier to digest.
he also prefers wax worms to meal worms. and we do the crickets as well. we
also put powder on the worms/ in the dish.
