[gecko]About transporting a gecko

I bought a circle back leopard gecko in NY and I live in CT.  I put
one of those 24 hour heat packs in his box he came in with some paper
towels on it so that he will not get too hot.  Will this be a safe way
of transporting a leopard gecko?
