I've had them collapse and I've had them continue to swell and take on water only to get really moldy and slimy later. I'd keep it away from any other eggs so that mold doesn't spread, but it certainly won't hurt to give it a chance.

Thanks for the info Rick. I did try candling it - it did look yellow to me, but reddish to my friend so I'm going to keep it for a while and see what happens. Won't it just collapse or something?

Thanks,
Dana

I tend to want to say that if you can gently clean off the egg and put it in some fresh substrate, there's no reason not to give it a chance. That being said, in my limited experience, only the bad eggs have molded. Have you candled it and seen whether it is pink or yellow? The egg should candle a pink color if it's full of blood and an embryo. If it candles yellow and is getting moldy, I'd say there's very little chance it's viable.

Hi everyone -

I have a crested gecko egg with a little mold on it, and am wondering if there is absolutely no chance that it is a viable egg because of this.

Any information about this topic is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dana
