My older gecko NaToth seems to be wasting away. She hasnt been eating many of the mealworms Ive been feeding her, so I tried crickets. In order to get her to notice them I have to take out all of the furniture from her enclosure so its just her and the crickets. After a while when she stops eating I put her furniture back so she can go and hide again. She ate several a few days ago but then the next day I found regurgitated crickets in the enclosure.
I had the same sort of problem with her a couple of years ago and took her to a vet. At that time the problem turned out to be that the temperature in her cage wasnt warm enough. Thats definitely not the case this time. I had to try to force feed her while she was recovering, which was a trial because we never could get her to open her mouth even the vet couldnt do it! Shes been a weird gecko from the beginning. I bought her in a pet store (yeah, I know ) and all shes ever wanted to do is hide. Shes totally different from Sadie, the gecko I bought from Julie, whos a little glutton and has a definite personality. Shes a doll! This might sound cruel, but Im not sure I want to spend a lot of money or time trying to find out whats wrong with NaToth and then trying to get her better, under the circumstances. I also dont want her to starve herself to death, because I know that has to be painful. Is it possible to euthanize a gecko like a dog or cat?
