I have a 2.5 year old Fedora Core 4. it contains gettext-0.14.3 and there is no autopoint. I tried to install the latest gettext-0.17, but it wouldn't build because my system has no /lib/libattr.la (it has .so only). and gettext-0.16 didn't fit, too. It surprised me a bit; I do use about 2 years old gEDA (actually just gschem, not very intensively) and I easily rebuild PCB on my system. I don't know gettext; perhaps it is essential to depend on gettext-0.16.1 or later, but it is not always convenient to have several versions of gettext in the same system and I'm not sure the update will broke nothing in it. I wouldn't complain about automake and autoconf, however I installed the most recent versions and couldn't make reconfig yet. the output of the command is attached for reference. As a result I downloaded some tens of MB to translate I wonder how many lines, unsuccessfully. this is probably not my day. How easy it was to translate geda-xgsch2pcb.pot after that! (BTW, I think phrases like "Close the layout editor before %s." are not very good for i18n ) Thank you for your attempts to internationalize gEDA. I believe it is very important for certain groups of users. ___________________________________________________________ Support the World Aids Awareness campaign this month with Yahoo!
