I updated guile to 1.8.x in NetBSD's pkgsrc last june so I have no real
complaints about moving to a newer guile.

Why 2.8.0 if the features were introduced in 2.6.0? One of the machines
which is doing pcb autobuilds has 2.4.x and it seems to build both pcb
and gerbv correctly.

As far as gerbv, there is just one workaround for using 2.4 instead of
2.6. I think with pcb there are some workarounds for older than 2.8
versions.

I don't have any real problems with moving to 2.8 though.
