Yes (although it almost certainly doesn't support arbitrary virtex or
pixel shaders). From the text, it almost sounded like he was using some
GPU based computation, in which case it wouldn't be too fast on my box.

Lua is pretty easy to work with, I've dabbled with it a bit (FEMM uses
it).

On the real plus side, that is a really neat robot they used gEDA tools
for. I assume he did schematics in gEDA as well as boards in PCB.
