I just meant.. what version number would hardy get when you SRU? Is it
the same number as the version in Intrepid which is SRU'd (skipping a
version number in Hardy), or do Intrepid and Hardy get different version
numbers for effectively the same package?

No (real) need to do that. I build the package myself and found it
worked. (Commented on the launchpad bug to say so too).

If you want me to test an officially built .deb from hardy-proposed, (is
that where the packages are staged - I can't remember), I can do that.
