Hi, I discovered a while back in a design that it is possible for a line with clearance to cut away connectivity of a thermal.
This certainly wasn't the expected behaviour. I know you might argue that combining themals and tracks to connect a pin is a bad idea, but I usually route tracks first, then add planes and join them. Sometimes you miss deleting / changing the join flag on some tracks. IIRC, the connectivity check didn't notice the break. The other reason I sometimes do this deliberately, is if the thermal happens to be at the point where I want a kelvin connection to the ground plane. The track could be leading off to some sensing circuit. -- Peter Clifton Electrical Engineering Division, Engineering Department, University of Cambridge, 9, JJ Thomson Avenue, Cambridge CB3 0FA Tel: +44 (0)7729 980173 - (No signal in the lab!)
