Yes, it was added some time ago. If you want to try it, look for "Autoplace component/net/buses text attributes hook" in system-gschemrc . If you uncomment the hooks, attributes are autoplaced each time you add, rotate, mirror a component, or each time you add a new attribute. Default attribute position is defined in default-attrib-positions.scm file. If the default attribute position overlaps any pin, the attribute will be automatically moved until the overlapping goes away.
