Is this still an open issue? It would be shame to break
compatibility with 2.2.x over something as silly as "g_setenv".

PS. Notice I said "support is being dropped for glib/gtk+ 1.2.x",
NOT gtk+ 2.2.x :) It would be nice to support most of gtk+ 2.x for
a while longer. Especially since I'm not running 2.6.x yet.
