Aah, this is a problem that existed even in the days of gqview.  I presume that 
the problem is that when the file list goes away, nothing is receiving the 
keyboard events that let you control things.

Admittedly, though, I just tried to reproduce the problem here and I couldn't — 
key events were handled properly regardless of whether the file list was hidden 
or not.
