If the directory those files are in does not have group write permissions 
as well, it must fail.

What's strange is that if the permissions for dir and file are OK, Geeqie 
will complain it can't copy (!) or move the file, but will do it anyway! 
Same applies to scripts ("External Editors").


PS: If someone wonders what would be a reason to not own images, but have 
group permissions: this is how several people here are working on a 
central photo depository.
