I think we're at the state where it works more or less ok.

Start using it to edit/trim pictures (where you take 1000 and delete
700), and notice (perhaps) that after the trash directory gets big (or
something else) that deleting images starts to take a really long time.

There are probably other issues.

I am really not clear on this.  geeqie uses libchamplain 0.4.  I gather
0.12 is current now.  And also that the API changes a lot.  Since
upstream is not paying attention to 0.4, it seems ungood to be using it.
So if I had extra spare time, I would understand the state of
libchamplain and assess if 0.12 is the thing to use (assuming it
probably is) and then change geeqie to use 0.12 instead of 0.4.  I
suspect that while there may have been API changes, the basic "make me a
widget" and "drop me a marker at these coords" can't be that hard to
redo.
