I think we're at the state where it works more or less ok. > From your comment, I expected some bumps in this first step, but it > built clean and ran fine. > > what should have have noticed that i did not? Start using it to edit/trim pictures (where you take 1000 and delete 700), and notice (perhaps) that after the trash directory gets big (or something else) that deleting images starts to take a really long time. There are probably other issues. > I am going to dig a bit deeper now and see what i can learn about > libchamplain > so i can better understand the issues. the issue is largely api's ? I am really not clear on this. geeqie uses libchamplain 0.4. I gather 0.12 is current now. And also that the API changes a lot. Since upstream is not paying attention to 0.4, it seems ungood to be using it. So if I had extra spare time, I would understand the state of libchamplain and assess if 0.12 is the thing to use (assuming it probably is) and then change geeqie to use 0.12 instead of 0.4. I suspect that while there may have been API changes, the basic "make me a widget" and "drop me a marker at these coords" can't be that hard to redo.
