I am one of the women leaders and a member of the coordinating committee for the campaignagainst Hengfu (SugarPlantation). Because of this I am in the government's"blacklist." This is a list of individuals that they accuse ofinciting the people to fight. They say that I am part of the opposition partyand I am organizing rebellion. I am not part of the opposition, and we are only fighting for ourlands. We came out to protest when thebulldozers first came to clear parts of the forest, our sacred forests. Theysay they only want to build a road for us. But after cutting the trees theystarted to build offices. We knew something wrong was happening. Afterwardsthey started to encroach on our farms, that is why we decided to finally act. The government said that ourlands are not ours. That the state owns it and that they can sell it to the Chinese company. We do not agree with that and we continue to fight. Once we confiscated 8 bulldozersso that they cannot continue their work. They said that I will be arrested if we did not return them.We did not want to return it. We said that they should stop their operation. That they cannot use the bulldozers anymore to destroy the forest. But theypromised to stop, so we decided to return the bulldozers. But a few months later they broke this promiseand continued the operation. And so we also continued our fight.Because wedo not stop fighting, the authorities still want to arrest me. Maybe I will be arrested soon because they have spies in the village that is always watching meand my family. They followme around. But I am not afraid of them. We are not afraid to fight for our lands.— at សៀម រាប Siem Reap, Cambodia.
