Those functions aren't actually from GEMS + Bochs, but rather date back to GEMS + LogTM. They were used to do something similar to a functional access. Either way, they can be safely removed.

   Hi Joel,

   That is correct.  I don't believe gem5 uses these functions and they date 
back from Bochs+GEMS.  Unless Derek says otherwise, I say you can go ahead and 
remove them.
