Since reference statistics are updated automatically, I don't remember whether or not I took a look at the changeset 330f8109b199 before committing it. I don't recall having seen any discussion on not updating the simerr files.

I agree that the changeset is very big and only parts of it need to be in the repository. I would like to suggest that since we do not want to update the simerr files, especially for long tests, we should not have them as part of the repository.

You are supposed to update simerr files. The problem is that Lisa added a warn that goes off spuriously when O3 mispredicts, and that happens so much for that regression that it generates an enormous simerr file. Ali has since removed the warn so new versions of simerr will be reasonable again.
