Hello folks. I've noticed once or twice when attempting to use an alternative build root that the mkdir command which tries to create said build_root will fail if anything other than the actual "build/" part of the path is missing. I can see why that might be intentional (avoiding silently accepted typos, rogue build dirs, etc.), but also that it might not.
