However, there are workarounds. For instance, you can use the TLM bridge to connect two (or more) gem5 systems to each other. This requires some tricks and linker magic, but it works. I was able to create a system with an x86 core and an ARM core that boots a linux kernel on both cores in parallel. I hope I find the time to publish an example sometime soon.
