Hi all, Thanks Jason for making this announcement! These patches are not related to upstreaming hardware transactional memory (though I might have abused the term 'transaction' in some commit messages). They are adding features and making small improvements that are required for the upcoming CHI implementation (hopefully we will soon be done reviewing it internally and it can be published). This is basically the context. There is no JIRA issue, so I'll create one (probably some time next week) with more details. If you have any question about why a particular change is necessary and the use case, please let me know.
Most of the current changes are minor, but there are a few that we might need to iterate on, so early feedback on those is more than welcomed: https://gem5-review.googlesource.com/c/public/gem5/+/31267/1 https://gem5-review.googlesource.com/c/public/gem5/+/31416/1 https://gem5-review.googlesource.com/c/public/gem5/+/31421/1 Best, Tiago ________________________________ From: Jason Lowe-Power <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, July 17, 2020 10:53 AM To: gem5 Developer List <[email protected]> Cc: Brad Beckmann <[email protected]>; Tiago Muck <[email protected]> Subject: Call for Ruby reviewers Hi all, Tiago has recently pushed the largest number of Ruby changes we've seen for quite a while! I'm going to work to get through these in the next week or so, but it would be good if others with Ruby expertise and that use Ruby frequently would also give these a look. I believe this is the top of the review change: https://gem5-review.googlesource.com/c/public/gem5/+/31421 Tiago, from what I understand, the goal is to enable hardware transactional memory and prepare for the new coherence protocol that's coming. Is there any other context we should know to help us review these patches? Are there other patches I missed? Also, I tried to find some Jira issues to help with context, but I wasn't sure what was relevant and not. Anything you can do to help us review would be appreciated!
