As suggested by Gabe, I managed to install gem5 using CLang. However, the hello world test program is segfaulting: https://pastebin.com/XiZ22QkV Is there an issue with the line that warns about the DRAM device capacity (I doubt that it is) Interestingly I managed to get hello32 running on SE Mode.
