Sorry for taking so long to look into this.

In short, I can't recreate this issue on my end. I've tried on three
different systems (including our Jenkins server), and each time the gzipped
file is downloaded and decompressed correctly. You are correct that some of
the test resources have been moved around over the past few months, but the
tests have been refactored so nothing breaks.

Could you give me more details on exactly how you're encountering this bug?
The revision of gem5 you're using, and the list of commands you're using to
run the experiments?
