Hi everyone,
I just wanted to highlight that compiling with clang instead of gcc roughly
halves the compiler and linker memory requirements (at least on Ubuntu 12.04,
clang 3.0 vs gcc 4.6.3).

Hi all,
I compiled it successfully without using the SWAP using the command :
scons build/x86/m5.opt CC=gcc CXX=g++
but it took long time as i left it from from night yesterday (at 8:07 PM),then
i checked it in the early morning and found it finished so i didn't actually
know how many hours it took to finish the compilation.
Really Many Great Thanks for support and reply from everyone that is
appreciated.
Best Regards

That's great to know and I'm sure will help a lot of people out. If you
really need debug info, you might want to use gem5.debug anyway. It's
slower, but it has the debug info and may be easier on gcc since it
wouldn't try to optimize as much. As a disclaimer I've never actually
compared build time memory usage between gem5.debug and gem5.opt, though.
