I need to create a particular cache hierarchical architecture in gem5 and do varied simulations with the traces I have and need to conclude on the usability and validity of the new architecture. This needs both protocol as well as cache hierarchy and distribution changes. Could you please help me to know 1) How easy it is to modify the system structure to a format with L1 caches making a bus based cluster with L2 caches making directory interconnection. (for a new gem5 user... ) 2) L2 cache with directory based coherency module structure variation as per my internal use.
