Hi Everyone,

I’d like to announce the availability of ARMv8 support in gem5. The code is now
available in the gem5 development repository (http://repo.gem5.org/gem5). The
current release supports running AArch64 code in both full-system and sys call
emulation mode as well as preserving ARMv7 support. In addition support for
virtualization and TrustZone for 32-bit systems exists although it has not been
extensively tested. Currently support for virtualization in AArch64 mode as
well as AArch32 code running under an AArch64 kernel isn’t supported.
Undoubtably there will still be some bugs, but the simulator can boot linux,
provide a terminal and run benchmarks today.

Additionally, Tony Gutierrez has been kind enough to create a 64-bit kernel
and file-system image with are available at http://www.gem5.org/Download.
Currently the kernel doesn’t support PCIe devices so networking isn’t possible,
but single system benchmarks can be run.

Thanks,
Ali
