Hi all, At the gem5 users workshop, I brought up the importance of creating a governance document (and other processes) for gem5. I have created an initial proposal for the governance document. The link to a google doc is below.
gem5 governance document <https://docs.google.com/document/d/12X3YHGJShUS34sorQJIvcr5NUssZcmMIJovD9I3w0Ns/edit?usp=sharing> Until Friday, this document will be open for everyone to edit. We want feedback and edits from everyone! Even if you have never directly contributed to gem5, we want your feedback on the document. Our goal is to make a document that will allow gem5 to continue to be open for the long-term. After Friday, I'll close the document to edits and start only taking comments so we can finalize the document. After the document is finalized, we can start working on auxiliary documents and other things like a roadmap, PMC, etc. Here are some good links to read about what a governance document is: http://oss-watch.ac.uk/resources/governancemodels http://oss-watch.ac.uk/resources/meritocraticgovernancemodel http://www.apache.org/foundation/how-it-works.html#meritocracy http://www.apache.org/foundation/governance/ http://oss-watch.ac.uk/resources/sustainableopensource Again, feel free to put your ideas out there! This is just a starting point. We want the gem5 community to continue to be strong and grow. A governance document will help us achieve this goal for years to come. Cheers, Jason Link again: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12X3YHGJShUS34sorQJIvcr5NUssZcmMIJovD9I3w0Ns/edit?usp=sharing
