Hello all,

I was looking at the memory dependency prediction infrastructure of O3, and I'm a bit puzzled by the fact that a store can be made dependent on a store (see lines 203 to 256 in src/cpu/o3/mem_dep_unit_impl.hh).

Unless I'm mistaken, the SQ will take care of making stores to the same location visible to other processors in order, and it will also take care of forwarding/squashing when it is needed. Am I correct in assuming that this simply creates false dependencies, or are there cases where this is really required?

Cheers,

Arthur Perais.
