Hello Fernando,

Thanks for sharing your work, the tables seem really helpful. I was thinking
about McPAT to get an estimation of the cache consumption, in order to compare
it with a scratchpad memory that I have implemented in gem5.
Nevertheless I will be careful with the results given, as you said.

Regards,

Hello,

McPAT can be a nice tool to quickly get rough estimations of energy
consumption. It should be used with care, ensuring that your
simulations/comparisons are meaningful. I worked with both gem5 and McPAT
during my thesis, so if you need information about their integration:

https://tel.archives-ouvertes.fr/tel-01285964/document

(tables in the appendix A)

There are several known issues with McPAT (e.g., HPCA 2015), so again be
careful.

Regards,

Hi Marcos,

Please take a look at below paper.
" Micro-architectural simulation of embedded core
heterogeneity with gem5 and McPAT"
http://damien.courousse.fr/pdf/2015-Endo-HiPEAC-RAPIDO.pdf

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Prathap

Hi Marcos,

I am not familiar with what it is you are trying to accomplish, but I for
power modelling of any existing CPU I would suggest to have a look at:
http://www.powmon.ecs.soton.ac.uk/powermodeling/

We recently posted a set of patches that enable you to easily couple such
power models to gem5.
