Where does ff02::fd come from? Is it just used as an example? That isn't clear
in the text. (IANA lists it as "variable scope allocation".)

FF02::FD is the link-local "all CoAP Nodes" (see 
https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc7252#section-12.8 and 
http://www.iana.org/assignments/ipv6-multicast-addresses/ipv6-multicast-addresses.xhtml).
