I don't think we ever saw a yes or no on this question

HI,

I would say WMA lossless is even more portable - any WMF SDK can decode or
transcode it?
That being said, our longer term goal towards the end of the year is to have
much broader codec support.

Then SAM can play non-DRM Apple Lossless audio in the mp4 container?

I'm 9/10ths of a mile about ready to start extracting to Windows Media
Lossless
but before I do I get an epiphany and want to hold out for FLAC.

Yeah, yeah... lossless = lossless but some formats are more flexible for
data
porting and transformation, which in my tests WMA Lossless is not :(

Louis, got a bone to toss to us?

I was actually getting the nerve to start the last tenth tonight but I
reckon
I'll work on cataloging the DVDs to stop, or at least temporarily halt, the
nagging and whining wife.

The answer to this question fully depends upon the mp4 format you are
talking about, currently there are about 6 different container formats using
mp4 as an extension.
If you are talking about the popular iTunes mp4 extension, then for the most
part these are DRM'ed files, though iTunes is now selling non DRM files but
those are not as popular or a widely seen.

Regardless of the format SAM cannot play DRM protected content.
