Aloha Loran;  I generally lurk on the discussion list primarily focusing 
my wit, wisdom, and experience to the forums.

Looks like you've changed the base samPHPweb pages quite a bit; if you 
haven't ripped out any of the guts or used specific SQL syntax then 
switching databases shouldn't be a problem as the samPHPweb has a 
database abstraction layer and can switch between MySQL, MS SQL, and 
Firebird (probably some others, too)..
Open dbconfig.xml.php, change the driver to MYSQL and the rest of the 
settings to the database details.

You'll also need to make sure the webserver has outgoing connections to 
the database and the database allows incoming connections (as 
appropriate and as needed; if the webserver and db are on the same 
machine this is not a problem but if they are on separate machine with 
the Internet or some network between them the communication channels 
need to be open).
