Where do you have your settings I am using a AKG D5 Microphone 
A gift from a good friend he said it should work the best for me

That is what I use here Bill. I had that when I first set it up. It came 
down to playing with the balances of the input and output of the mixer.

Try different combinations of volume (input and output).
